Living in Toulouse, France, 37-year-old Doudou NGumbu, will have the biggest fight of his career on Saturday, when he fights WBC light heavyweight champion, unbeaten Ukrainian Oleksndr Gvozdyk, at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
With 38 victories, including 14 knockouts and 8 defeats, Doudou has won 3 of his last 4 fights. He has won 5 international boxing titles in his career and he is very motivated for this opportunity.
In Tolouse, NGumbu is training at the Boxing Academy Christophe Tiozzo, who for 9 years has been promoting the social and professional integration of young people from low-income neighborhoods.
“The boxing academy Christophe Tiozzo of Toulouse will soon celebrate its tenth anniversary. The first years of this space were only to promote social and professional integration, but now professional boxing has arrived to our club.”
“NGUMBU, a boxer with many victories, joined us to continue his sports career and share our values, and in 2018, he retained his Francophone WBC belt at a gala organized by our academy.
“Now he is fighting for the world crown and we are so proud he is fighting with our colors,” said Jean-François Rezeau, President of the Academy Christophe Tiozzo Toulouse.
“My opponent is a world class fighter. And that’s why we have prepared very hard for this fight. I feel prepared, confident and serene. I’m aware of the quality of the champion and of the importance of this commitment. It is very important for me, my family and my sponsors, who have been with me for a long time, and obviously for my club, Christophe Tiozzo Toulouse Academy,” Ngumbu commented.
