Four-time Californian world champion, Mikey García, will face Spanish contender, Sandor Martin, in the main event of a function next Saturday, October 16 at Chukchansi Park in Frenso, California.
Mikey Garcia defeated Jessie Vargas in Frisco, Texas, in February 2020 and the California fighter welcomes Spaniard Martin to his home state, with Martin entering the fight on the back of two successfully defenses of his 140 pound European title.
Garcia has been a featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight and super lightweight champion. He has a 30-1 record, with 30 knockouts. He suffered his only loss in March of 2019, when he was overtaken by Errol Spence Jr. “I’m so excited to get back in the ring and give my fans another night to remember,” Garcia said. “Hope to see you all on October 16 in Fresno; It will be a great night of boxing.”
In Martin’s case, he will enter this match with a 38-2 record, with 13 knockouts. He is the current European Super Lightweight Champion, a crown he defended in his last fight against Englishman Kay Prospere.
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” Martin said. “The sport of boxing gives me the opportunity to change my life. There will be a before and after for everyone in this fight.”
The bout, which is promoted by Matchroom Boxing, will be broadcast on DAZN.
