Mercado paving the way to face Chiwandire

Mexico’s Yamileth Mercado will defend her World Boxing Council super-bantamweight Absolute Title, against interim champion Kwdakwashe Chiwandire of Zimbabwe.
This important fight will take place at the Manuel Bernardo Aguirre Gymnasium in Chihuahua, Mexico, on March 18.

Chiwandire, 27, is one of the toughest and most resourceful fighters in her division and she has shown it in her most recent bouts, winning the interim title and subsequently defeating experienced former champion Zulina Muñoz.

Mercado will be defending her crown for the fifth time. Since 2019 no one has been able to take the world title from her; and she has faced great boxing exponents. She is still only twenty-four!
Yamileth, who knows how potentially dangerous her rival is, is undergoing a grueling training camp to arrive in peak condition for this supreme fight.
