Jessica McCaskill, WBC superlight champion, was banking on fighting Cecilia Braekhus on April 17 in Oxon Hill, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was canceled and the fight was had to postponed.
McCaskill understood the situation and spent the following months conducting an extended training camp. Now on August 15, not only will she face Braekhus for their welterweight titles, but the two champions will headline the event to be broadcast live on DAZN from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“There are a lot of people complaining about the current situation. I’m just trying to make the most of this lockdown time. Having to quarantine my daily work and training has been an easy transition, because basically I’m always training because I can’t go to work. These last few months I’ve been focused on my training.”
McCaskill combines boxing with her daily job as an investment banker and due to the quarantine she has had more time to train and focus on the important fight she will be holding.
