WBO and IBF super featherweight champion, Mikaela Mayer, will try to go one step further to become the first undisputed champion of this division, as she will face the WBC champion, Alycia Baumgardner.
This bout is part of a great card that will take place next Saturday at the Arena O2 Arena, in London, England.
Mayer (17-0, 5 KO`s) is a very talented boxer, who has shown her quality since she represented the United States at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
The following year, she signed with Top Rank and began an impressive run of smashing wins, including a unanimous decision over Ewa Brodnicka, to capture the WBO 130-pound title in October 2020.
In June 2021, she made her first defense against Argentina’s Erica Farias, and last November, she added the IBF crown by beating Maiva Hamadouche.
In April, she defended both titles by defeating Jennifer Han, and is now in line for this unification with Baumgardner.
Baumgardner (12-1, 7 Ko`s), the powerful boxer with more than five years in professional boxing, made herself known in an explosive way when she traveled to Sheffield, United Kingdom to challenge Terri Harper, former WBC champion.
Despite fighting away from Home in front of thousands of British fans, the Fremont, Ohio fighter landed a right hand counterpunch that essentially befuddled Harper on her feet.
Baumgardner then made her first defense of her crown in April with a lopsided decision victory over former unified world champion Edith Soledad Matthysse.
This fight is organized by Top Rank, Salita Promotions and Boxxer, and will be televised on ESPN+..
