Isaac Cruz ready for the lightweight elite
Today, during our Martes de Café, we had the privilege to have lightweight division monster, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, who talked about his plans, past fights and more.
“We welcome Isaac Crúz, a fighter who has quickly become an inspiration to thousands of Mexicans. “Pitbull” motivates and moves many Mexicans. He is an example of hard work and we are very proud that he is here with us today”
Mexican Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz has proven his quality in the 135-pound division on several occasions, defeating important rivals such as Francisco Vargas, Diego Magdaleno, Yuriorkis Gamboa; however, perhaps the fight that brought him to the spotlight due to his courageous and fearless performance was against Gervonta Davis.
“Pitbull” cruz comes from knocking out his Mexican compatriot Eduardo “Zurdito” Ramírez in the second round, to get the World Boxing Council silver lightweight belt, at the Crypto.com Arena, in Los Angeles, California.
After a first round of pressure from Cruz, the end came in the second round when “Pitbull” sent Ramírez to the canvas with a powerful left hook.
This is what Isaac told the media today
“After the Gervonta fight, I learned to be more confident. I understood that I am ready to face anyone from the lightweight division. That I can beat everyone and that I’m ready to be world champion”.
“There will be a lot of activity in the division in these weeks. We are expecting for Haney vs. Lomachenko, for the undisputed championship. I think it’s going to be a strategic, defensive fight, but it’s very important for our future plans.
“About Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, I didn’t lean on anyone. Whoever is careless is going to take the defeat. Both fighters will bet on their power and look for an accurate blow to land.”
Eduardo “Rocky” Hernández, ready to conquer the Green and Gold belt
In 2019, Eduardo “Rocky” Hernández was one step away from disputing the green and gold title; However, he suffered a major setback when he was defeated and lost his undefeated record, which led him to take a step back for self-reflection.
“Eduardo Hernández got recovered, he learned from his mistakes, understood the reasons why he fights and came back stronger than ever facing and defeating high ranked fighters. His story is full of learning and strength” commented Mauricio Sulaimán:
Today, with a title shot in sights again, “Rocky” reflects on his plans:
“I feel very happy to be here. We are one step away from realizing the dream: To be world champion of the largest organization in the world
“I had a second chance that I am not going to throw away. God gave me a great lesson the day I lost my undefeated record, Gof taught me to understand who my friends were and most importantly, to understand that everything I do is for my family ”
Magali Rodríguez ready to defend her WBC crown
The current silver champion in the super lightweight division linked via Zoom to the traditional “Coffee Tuesdays” to talk about her first defense of her crown against Estelle Mossey on April 28 in Tajikistan.
Visibly excited to talk to the specialized press and to be able to share a moment with the WBC family and its licensed president Mauricio Sulaiman, Magali spoke about her preparation and what it means to be part of the organization.
Magali, who won the title on June 11, defeating French challenger Victoire Piteau, was cear in saying that this defense is very important to her, as much or more than that night when she won the crown of the organization that she considers the most important.
Closing her preparation in Monterrey, Magali commented that even though she comes from a lighter division, super lightweight has been a division where she has felt comfortable and strong.
Regarding her preparation, she was clear in saying that she has focused a lot on her punch and speed and that she will travel to Tajikistan with the firm conviction of returning to Mexico with a great victory.
Before saying goodbye to the press and returning to the gym, Magali asked for advice from Isaac Cruz, who was one of the special guests at the conference, who with his characteristic humor told her that the most important thing is to travel with the mind of a winner and be sure of the work that was done before the fight.
Finally, Magali appreciated the opportunity to share this moment with the entire WBC family and promised to return with the title.
Dante Jardon presented with NABF belt
This morning, during the “Martes de Café” conference, Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán, presented Dante Jardón with the NABF super welterweight belt which he won on June 23 against Artem Oganesyan, in Montreal and which had not reached his hands due to logistics matters.
“Crazy” Jardón traveled to Canada to face the tough and then undefeated prospect, Artem Oganesyan and used all his experience to beat Artem by unanimous decision.
