Marlen Esparza defeats Gabriela Alaniz

The World Boxing Council and WBA Flyweight World Champion, Texan Marlen Esparza, retained her crowns by defeating the now former WBO flyweight world champion, Argentina’s Gabriela Alaniz, by majority decision.
The fight took place at the AT&T Center, in San Antonio, Texas.
The Judges noted Esparza’s boxing over Alaniz’s aggressiveness and volume. The scores were 95-95, 97-93 and a 99-91.
With this victory, Esparza improved her record to 14-1, with one knockout, while Alaniz fell to 14-1, with half a dozen knockouts.
