Guatemalan fighter, Maria Micheo was presented with the international WBC belt of minimum weight which she conquered last Saturday, defeating Mexican Cinthya Martínez by unanimous decision.
Maria, who has made her career in Mexico, was thrilled and proud to receive from the WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman and WBC female bantamweight champion Mariana Juarez, at the Martes a Café event, which this week landed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, lalnepantla in the State of Mexico.
“This is a very special day for me, I not only win this important title, I take an important step towards a world championship but also I fought in front of my people, in my beloved Guatemala and that was the first time I fought as professional in my land.
“I feel very fortunate to be here and to be part of the WBC family, this is only the beginning, because from now on I will be in search of the title opportunity, to fulfill the dream that began eight years ago when I started boxing. ”
Maria thanked everyone who made this possible, and especially to her coach, Marisol Rhodesa. She makes history by being the first Guatemalan champion crowned in her land.
