“Manny” Rodríguez can`t wait to fight Legend Nonito Donaire
Puerto Rican Emmanuel “Manny” Rodríguez clashes with sturdy Filipino seasoned veteran Nonito Donaire for the WBC bantamweight title on December 19th in the main event of a Showtime card, at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Unscaville, Connecticut.
Rodríguez (19-1, 12 KOs) returns to the ring after a loss to Japan’s Naoya Inoue. Donaire was scheduled to face WBC champion Nordine Ouabaali. but he tested positive for COVID-19 and was designated champion in recess. The winner of this attractive fight must face Ouabaali.
“This fight is to show that my loss against Inoue happened but now we are back on the map. Not every boxer has a second chance to contest a world title, but against Donaire I will do the kind of fight that everyone used to see from me. Donaire is a future Hall of Famer, without a doubt. I am proud to be able to fight him and he deserves respect, but he has received a lot of punishment during his career, he just turned 38 years old and he is not the same anymore. I have a lot of advantages because of my age. He made a great fight with Inoue, however, but he took too many punches. Donaire is a legend, but on December 19 he will have to deal with me. I will be the new WBC champion.”
