Concluding the third reintegration program, Knockout No Tires la Toalla, in the Santiaguito penitentiary center, State of Mexico, awards were presented to 50 prisoners who participated and worked hard in the program.
This follows the recent delivery of 120 certificates in the penitentiary of Neza Bordo and Tenango del Valle in the State of Mexico. The program is coordinated by Red VIRAL, the World Boxing Council and the Secretary of Security of the State of Mexico.
Knockout Don’t Throw in the Towel aims through boxing and comprehensive attention to emotions, to contribute to the social reintegration of those deprived of liberty.
The World Boxing Council organized training for four months. All time great champions Chiquita González, Carlos Zárate, Ibeth la Roca Zamora, Isaac Bustos, among others, went to the prison daily for sports and motivational practice work plus implementation.
Dr Eunice Rendon, coordinator of the program, spoke of the important transformation that has taken place in the prison gym, as well as the change on a personal and collective level viz the participants.
Security Secretary Jacobo Olaf Rodríguez García, mentioned the importance of having this type of program, reiterating the commitment of the State of Mexico to continue these actions.
As part of the delivery, the World Boxing Council, represented by Michel Salomon, director of social programs, praised the work of those deprived of liberty who showed greater empathy and team spirit during this first year, delivering t-shirts, boxing kits and diplomas, in addition, mini-belts were given to the authorities in gratitude for their support in carrying out the program.
All participants received recognition for the 350 hours of comprehensive training received, signed by the authorities of the State of Mexico, the VIRAL Network and Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the WBC.
