This Saturday saw the ABU super welterweight rematch between newly crowned champion Roarke “Razor” Knapp and Brandon “Fast Guns” Thysse take place at Kempton Park, South Africa.
The first meeting between the two was a war until the seventh round, when Thysse knocked out Knapp with an accurate blow. Almost 3 years have passed since this, so the two fighters have undoubtedly improved a lot and are willing to show it.
The rematch did not disappoint anyone, it was a power to power match where both warriors showed their best version. Thysse rocked Knapp in the first round with a punch an average fighter would have dropped, but Knapp took the punch in stride. That speaks to his excellent conditioning and the credit for him goes to his coaching and preparation.
The combat was very close with alternating dominance of both warriors leaving everything above the ring.
Judge Mfundo Mvandaba scored it 116-112 for Knapp. Thabo Spampool scored 115-113 for Thysse while Ben Ncapayi scored it 115-114 for Knapp.
