The Two John’s and a Jonas!

A scouse treat, garnished by some finest relish from the East End, at the Adelphi Hotel, City Centre, Liverpool, at the Liverpool Ex Boxers Association Grand Luncheon, and the stars of the show were former world Light Heavyweight Champion John Conteh and ex welterweight world champion John H. Stracey along with World Boxing Council Super-welterweight Champion Natasha Jonas.

A great afternoon where decent  sums of money were raised at this  packed venue. John H was in fine voice singing and the entertainment was top notch.

John H said: “We signed this poster off when we boxed on the Muhammad Ali Bill on 14th Feb 1973 at the Hilton Convention Centre where Elvis appeared for 8 and Half Years. That was 50 years ago!

We were signing this poster called ‘The British are Coming’ we won the 3 fight contests 2 -1.  Joe Bugner lost to Ali 12 rds points, John Conteh KO`d Terry Daniels and I defeated Danny McAloon on points over ten rounds.  So we the Brits won the Trophy! It was a memorably great night and the next evening we saw Elvis Live!”
