Legendary former world champion Carlos Zárate inaugurated photographic exhibition “Life and Glory of a Champion” in his honor, which will be exhibited for week at the Iztacalco City Hall in Mexico City, which is the work of Armando Quintero.
A bust in honor of Zárate Serna will be the first to be installed in the Corridor of Champions, a promenade that will be built in the Gabriel Ramos Millán neighborhood of the Iztacalco mayor’s office in Mexico City, confirmed the director of Works and Urban Development, Sergio Viveros Espinoza, and the director of Sports and Education, Enrique Escamilla.
The Iztacalco Recreational Coordinator, former Kick Boxing champion Johnny Zárate, specified that the bust of who was the first Iztacalco boxing world champion will be placed on Sur 159 streets, between Oriente 120 and Tezontle Avenue.
“This is a very beautiful recognition, because I feel the love of the people and in my hometown. I’m really grateful. Ramos Millán has always been my neighborhood. I grew up here and lived here for more than 30 years and I continue here because I spend more time at work, at the Deportivo de los Trabajadores del Metro, which is also in the Ramos Millán neighborhood,” said the emotional champion, who was accompanied by his wife Nelly Scott, his son Jesus Zarate; as well as nephews and friends.
Apt and fitting tribute to a great boxer and a truly great man!
