Super bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Council and the World Boxing Organization, Naoya“The Monster” Inoue, continued to make history in world boxing.
He knocked out Marlon Tapales in the tenth round, to snatch the WBA and the IBF belts from him, this Tuesday, December 26, in the main event of a card that took place at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
A powerful right hand from Inoue crashed into Tapales’ head, dropping him to the canvas, disoriented. The Filipino tried to stand up, put both gloves on the canvas, but was unable to beat the count of Referee Celestino Ruiz.
Inoue was ruthlessly overwhelming. He dominated Tapales, who went to the canvas in the fourth round and in the tenth. The end of the fight occurred at 1:02 minutes of that tenth round.
With this victory, Inoue became only the second fighter, after Terence Crawford, to become undisputed two-division champion in the four-belt era. Inoue become Undisputed Champion in the bantam division and has world titles in four different divisions.
Inoue improves his record to 26-0, with 23 knockouts, while Tapales falls to 37-4, with 19 knockouts.
