Former WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, returned to the ring to defeat Canadian Steve Rolls by KO in the 4 round at the Madison Square Garden, New York.
GGG hasn`t fought since last September when he lost to Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. He was favorite to defeat Rolls, who had won his 19 professional matches, with 10 knockouts.
Everything was defined in the fourth round, when Golovkin landed a stunning right to the head of Rolls, who reeled against the ropes only to receive a left to the jaw, which sent him to the canvas.
The end of the match came at 2:09 of that fourth round. With this quick victory with the direction of his new coach, Johnathon Banks, Golovkin improved his record to 39-1-1, with 35 knockouts, putting himself back on track for a match against “Canelo.”
The fight was organized by GGG Promotions, and broadcast by the DAZN.
