Girls Box 2022 Report

The 2022 edition of Girls Box was held at the Accra Sports Stadium, inside the Hana Harthramani Hall.

The event featured 14 bouts, 28 boxers and 9 clubs.

Girls Box 2022 is a WBC CARES sponsored event. Participants received WBC certificates and medals and WBC Africa chapter cares equipment filled gift bags provided by partner organizations

After each fight boxers give a message of hope and encourage on the issues of teenage pregnancy and breast-cancer.

The ladies wore color coded Tops provided by Boxclub.root. Pink tops represent breast cancer and white represent teenage pregnancy.

The event was endorsed by the Ghana Boxing Federation, Ghana Boxing Authority and National Sports Authority

This event was attended by two WBC Champions:

Alfred Lamptey,WBC Youth Silver Champion

Patrick Allotey, Former WBC International Champion

What was done?

28 boxers were given a chance to showcase their Advocacy skills by sharing their message on teenage pregnant or Breast Cancer

How did this event impact that audience / community?

Girls Box 2022 gave 28 female boxers the opportunity to showcase their talent. It also expose boxing authorities in Ghana, the presence of such talent.

The President of Ghana Boxing Federation promised that the upcoming National individual Championships will have female competing for the first time to be selected into Team Ghana.

The event created awareness of how boxing can be used for good to impact the society, as children from two community organizations were present at the event Jamestown Gbekebii NGO and Besesaka Boxeducation Foundation

The event has reduced the barrier of no equipment among some of the clubs. This is because each participant received hand wraps, gumshields and water bottled to support their training. Most of these equipments are expensive and not accessible to boxers who have not sponsors/ beginners.

Seek for support for the ladies to help them develop their skills in boxing as well as link them to organizations they can do community impact projects with based on their interest

We are grateful for this opportunity to make history in Ghana. I hope for more support and opportunities to bring people together for Hope and Glory.
