Super middleweight Mike Gavronski (26-3-1, 15 KOs) conquered the vacant WBC Continental Americas belt with a sixth round KO over tough fighter Tommy Hughes (9-2, 4 KOs) , in front of more than 1500 spectators in Rosemont, Illinois.
The fight was the main event of a Bobby Hitz promotion card, in the “Rosemont Rumble” series.
Hughes brought youth, power and heart to the fight at the Rosemont Dome, but it was Gavronski’s strength and patience that won out.
Hughes started fast and used a short jab and a left hook to score well in the first rounds. Gavronski counter attacked to the body, applying a lot of pressure. The end came after Gravonski landed three powerful right-hands that sent Hughes to the canvas.
