Floyd Mayweather Jr. honors the everlasting memory of his uncle Roger ‘Black Mamba’ Mayweather, who passed Wednesday in Las Vegas, Nevada, after being hospitalized for several days.
Roger was an example to Floyd as a boxer and became an essential part of his team, helping him to develop into one of the most successful fighters in history.
Floyd wrote on his social networks:
“My uncle was one of the most important people in my life in and out of the ring. He was a great champion and one of the best coaches in boxing. Unfortunately, his health was deteriorating for several years and now he can finally rest in peace. Roger meant the world to me, my father Floyd Sr., my uncle Jeff, our entire family, everyone at the Mayweather Boxing Gym and everyone in boxing. It is a terrible loss for all of us.
“We are grateful for all the love and good wishes we have received when word spread about Roger’s passing. It helps me see that he was able to touch so many people throughout his life in boxing because he gave a lot to sport, which was his first and last love.”
