Enza Jacoponi has opened up a window to Europe for the World Boxing Council, spanning almost sixty years!
This encompasses almost the entire history of the World Boxing Council, which was founded just one year earlier. Enza has amassed decades of experience in our sport. Here is her profile and her story:
1. I joined the WBC when I began my work at the European Boxing Union in January 1964 and because the EBU was one of the founders of the WBC.
2. I was appointed member of the WBC Governor when I was elected EBU General Secretary, taking the place of the former, Piero Pini, who retired due illness.
3. I was elected EBU General Secretary in June 1990, at the EBU General Assembly in Paris.
The EBU, with its 37 European Countries, is very important since it develops and promotes the European professional boxing taking care to respect the medical and boxing rules. The European boxers have a great participation in the world of boxing. Of course at present the situation is changed a bit but the interest of the European boxers is still very much alive.
4. For the EBU the World Boxing Council is the best and the most significant, firstly since the EBU was one of the founders, but above all since the WBC is the world organization that over the years has given great importance to improving boxing in sports and medical rules.
