“Ear, ear!” WBC thanks BBB of C for headphones cooperation
British fighter Liam Williams, won the WBC silver middleweight belt, defeating French resident Karim Achour, in 2 rounds in a bout at the O2 Arena, Greenwich, in the United Kingdom.
For this fight, in which Tito González served as supervisor, the three judges used headphones to eliminate noise.
The main objective of the use of headphones, is the elimination of environmental noise in order to maximize the concentration of the judges during the evaluation of the fights.
There are certain factors that can be distracting and unconsciously influence the work of the ring officials. Among them are enthusiastic fans, loud music, even louder television commentators, comments from the teams of boxers plus other halabaloo in very close proximity to the judges.
The WBC thanks the BBB of C (British Boxing Board of Control) for their help and cooperation by using this measure, as well as the boxing commissions around the world who’ve already adopted it.
