On March 22, Italian Michael Magnesi will defend his World Boxing Council Silver super featherweight title against formidable Japanese rival Masanori Rikiishi, in Italy.
Magnesi seeks a clear victory that would bring him closer to a opportunity to compete for the coveted Green and Gold Belt against the current champion, Texan O’Shaquie Foster.
Magnesi, 29 years old, will have to deal with the fearsome southpaw of Rikiishi, from Nagoya, with only one loss in his career, undefeated since 2018 and currently ranked number 5 in the WBC, one position above him in the rankings.
“The goal is the world championship, I anticipate that he will return from Italy with the second defeat of his career. I have already started training and I will be ready to demonstrate my capabilities,” Magnesi promised.
