Kim Clavel and Jessica Nery Plata will square off on December 1 in a Light Flyweight Unification matchup at Place Bell Laval in Quebec, Canada.
Clavel, 31, won her WBC crown on July 29 in Montreal, defeating titleholder Yesenia Gomez by a 10-round unanimous decision at the Montreal Casino. She became the eighth GYM world champion.
“Since my conquest of the WBC world title, I have received thousands of extraordinary testimonies that move me enormously. On December 1st, I want to thank all my fans for their support in launching me into this unique challenge to become the unified champion. I promise not to disappoint you!” Clavel commented.
Yesica Nery Plata is equally excited about the opportunity: “I won my title by dethroning champion Yesica Bobb in Panama, so I’m not afraid to go to Canada for this important fight in my career.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a local boxer arouse so many passions,” said GYM president Yvon Michel. “It was without hesitation that we took the gamble of reserving Place Bell for this first unification world championship in boxing history in Quebec. We can welcome the many fans of our champion and allow them to witness this historic event IRRESISTIBLE II.”.
