Undisputed world middleweight champion Claressa “GWOAT” Shields of Michigan will return home to headline boxing’s first-ever event at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Saturday, June 3, facing four-time world champion Hanna Gabriels in a rematch.
Shields and Gabriels will face each other at a press conference to announce the fight next Tuesday, April 18, in Detroit where more details about the card will be announced.
Shields, the undisputed two-division champion in boxing history, will continue to make history as she brings boxing in a big way to the home of the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Red Wings.
The Flint, Michigan fighter first faced Gabriels in Shields’ sixth pro fight of 2018, with Gabriels putting Shields to the canvas in the first round with a powerful left hook and right hook combination.
That was the only time Shields has been knocked down as a professional or amateur and while she rallied to win a thrilling decision, she will look for an emphatic end to her rivalry on June 3.
The fight is organized by Salita Promotions and will be televised on DAZN.
