Chiquita González, JC Chávez and Guerrera Torres inaugurated the ring of the municipal boxing school in Neza.
With the presence of the legendary Humberto “Chiquita” González, Ana María Torres and Julio César Chávez, the ring of the municipal boxing school in Netzahualcoyotl, State of Mexico, was inaugurated.
In the event that took place on the esplanade of the Municipal Palace, the municipal president of Neza, Adolfo Cerqueda, referred to the importance for the youth of this municipality to have a space in which they can practice sports and get away from addictions.
“It is so important to have Chávez, with an exemplary life story in relation to what is done, to get young people out of this drug and alcohol schemes, that sports be a mechanism to contain it,” said Adolfo Cerqueda, who took the opportunity to give the official flag to the municipal boxing school.
Humberto González, who for some years now has shown support for young boxing prospects with Chiquita Boxing Promotions highlighted the work being done in Neza and said he was very grateful for the presence of legendary JC Chávez.
“It is a pleasure to talk about Neza to the world, now that we are here with my compadre Chávez and Guerrera Torres. Young people will have the opportunity to train and fulfill their dream, to become champions”, said Chiquita González.
The world champion in three divisions, Julio César Chávez, was applauded by hundreds of people who gathered on the esplanade of the Municipal Palace and he was the person in charge of cutting the inaugural ribbon of the boxing school ring.
“When it was proposed to me to come to Neza, I did not think twice, I know what it means to come from below and it is good that the municipal president is putting up a ring so that these young people get out of this damn disease that caused me so many difficult and sad times. The young people are going to be motivated”, he assured.
Just as Chávez had a dream when he was a child, the same as Chiquita González and Guerrera Torres, the idol of Mexico assured that the ring and the boxing school in Neza will serve to create new boxing champions.
“This ring is going to serve as a lot of motivation for young people who want to do boxing, who come to fulfill the dream that Chiquita, La Guerrera and I had, they are dreams that can come true with dedication and discipline,” added Chávez. .
For Ana María Torres, one of the pioneers of women’s boxing in Mexico, she said she was proud that in her municipality young people are promoted, although they will now be the ones to achieve her goals with work and dedication.
“The young people who have that dream of being champions, but have discipline, perseverance, dedication, the heart and that nobody tells you that you cannot, work hard, life gives good and bad, but you always have to be strong , with character to achieve his dream”.
Also present were Fernando Platas, silver medalist in Sydney 2000 in diving; Alberto Reyes Alemán, from the Cleto Reyes brand; and Mayte Ivonne Chávez García, director of the Municipal Institute of Physical Culture and Sports.
Five fights were held starring young people from Neza and also from surrounding municipalities, who thus follow their dream of one day becoming world champions, like the figures who were present at the opening of the ring.
