Canelo and Charlo NOT dancing cheek to cheek in Las Vegas!
Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez and Jermell Charlo met in a formal brief encounter, before their Saturday night mega fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Canelo, who will defend his super middleweight world titles against the undisputed super welterweight world champion, Jermell Charlo, makes the third defense of his titles, in what will be the first confrontation of two undisputed champions.
My word, each wanted his say and swiftly got to the point:
Canelo Alvarez:
“I am very happy to be here again in a big fight, a fight between two undisputed champions. Thanks to PBC, Al Haymond and the Charlo team for making it possible. Thank you, Eddy, for always being with me. I gave my utmost in training, to get to the fight as best as possible. It won’t be an easy fight, but I love challenges.”
Jermell Charlo:
“Here we are. I thank Canelo and his team for making this fight possible. To my coach and the PBC team. Canelo has been at the top for many years and when you aspire to be great it is guys like him that you must defeat. We had a great training camp and we are ready to get in the ring.”
The WBC will present the winner of the fight with the Puebla belt, a masterpiece created by brilliant artisans, imaginativly incorporating the cosmogony of the Puebla culture with all the most representative elements of that State. This is a gift from the WBC and Mexico to the world, as has been done since September 2017.
