Former world champion Mikaela Mayer will have a new rival for this Saturday, in London, since the initially announced contender, Christina Linardatou, did not pass the medical.
Queensberry Promotions, got a last minute high quality opponent for Mayer in addition to getting the approval of the WBC. This is Lucy Wildheart, who will compete with the American, the Interim lightweight title, as the main support for the “Joe Joyce vs Zhilei Zhang” card, at the Copper Box Arena, at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, England.
Mayer, 32, (17-1, 5 KOs), of Colorado Springs, Colo., will make her debut at lightweight against Wildheart (10-1, 4 KOs), from Sweden who resides in In England.
Wildheart, 30, lost a 10-round unanimous decision to France’s Estelle Mossely (11-0, 1 KOs) in June 2019 and has won five fights in a row since then.
Both fighters comfortably passed the weigh in.
