Aaron McKenna will face Uisma Lima for the World Boxing Council International Middleweight Championship, this Friday, June 16 at York Hall in London.
McKenna was originally scheduled to face Shakiel Thompson, but he withdrew due to injury, but Mckenna’s team passed up the opportunity to go into an easier fight and instead decided to face this fighter.
Lima will enter the ring with an 80 percent knockout rate and most of his wins have come in Spain or his native Angola, but now he faces McKenna who owns two impressive knockout wins in Great Britain.
“Every day I wake up waiting for my opportunity, every day I train waiting for my opportunity, every day I give up something for an opportunity. Today my chance came! I’m going to bring that WBC belt home,” McKenna said.
McKenna maintained his unbeaten record by defeating Jordan Grant on points in their super middleweight bout at the Manchester Arena last March.
