American, Marvin Camel, became the first World Boxing Council cruiserweight Champion. The division had recently been created by the WBC. He defeated Croatian Mate Parlov by unanimous decision, in a bout that took place at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. The Referee was Ferd Hernandez. The Judges were Harold Buck, José Juan Guerra and Angelo Poletti.
