At the giant Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, the attendance record for a boxing match was shattered. The main event of the night was Julio Cesar Chavez, from Mexico VS American Greg Haugen. The bout was savored by more than 130,000 avid fans, who roared up a storm of support for “El Gran Campeon Mexicano”, defending his WBC super lightweight championship, with aplomb via a laced up fisticuff bomb. Julio, won with a clobbering emotionally charged TKO after five torrid rounds and knockdowns in the first and then in that fateful fifth, of his brave but blitzed and shellshocked opponent . The Referee was “Firm but fair,” Joe Cortez. The Judges were Marty Denkin, Gelasio Perez and Dae Eun Chung.
