A day like today, Davey Moore defeated Hogan Kid Bassey

March 18th, 1959

American, Davey Moore, defeated Nigerian Hogan Kid Bassey, by TKO in the thirteenth round, at the old Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, conquering the world featherweight championship. Bassey was not able to come out of his corner and Referee Tommy Hart declared Davey as the winner. The Judges were Mushy Callahan and George Latka.
