“The Professor” Azumah Nelson, from Ghana, defeated Britain’s Pat Cowdell by TKO in the first round at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, West MidLands, England. With this victory he defended the WBC featherweight championship. The Referee was Octavio Meyran, who stopped the actions at minute 2 with 24 seconds, after advancing Pat was poleaxed by a mighty left hook. The Judges were Richard Steele, Harry Gibbs and Roy Ankarah.
