Great figures of Mexican boxing will participate in the Sonora “Don José Sulaimán” Race of Champions, which will take place on June 18 in Hermosillo and which will distribute a bag of 100,000 pesos in cash prizes.
After presenting eight editions in Mexico City, the World Boxing Council decided to move this race to the capital of Sonora to promote physical activity among society from different regions of the country.
The 2023 Race of Champions will consist of three distances, 10, 5 and 2 kilometers, with a start and finish line on Hidalgo Boulevard, next to the Municipal and Government Palaces.
Among the Mexican boxing figures who have confirmed their participation are world champions Érik “Terrible” Morales, Jorge “Travieso” Arce, José Luis “Temible” Castillo, Ricardo “Piolo” Castillo and Hernán “Tyson” Márquez.
In addition WBC super flyweight world champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada and the former WBC super featherweight world champion, Miguel “Alacrán” Berchelt, will run.
Medals will be awarded to the runners who reach the podium in the 10, 5 and 2K, as well as commemorative medals for those who cross the finish line in any of the three versions.
