Usyk KO`s Bellew in the eighth
Undisputed cruiserweight Oleksandr Usyk from Ukraine, successfully defended all of his titles, by knocking out former English world champion Tony Bellew in the eighth round, at the Manchester Arena in England.
A straight left to the chin, sent Scouser Bellew to the canvas, leaving him with no opportunity to continue. Referee Terry O’Connor halted the action, so Usyk achieved a “Door knocking” victory on his rival’s porch, close to home.
The fight was very tactical from the beginning, with Usyk looking to connect power shots on Bellew who was very mobile and used every square inch of the ring. But that power of Usyk grew round after round, having a marked effect on Bellew.
In the eighth round, Oleksandr punished the English fighter with solid left hands, setting up the stunning knockdown. The official time ending the fight was at 2:00 minutes of the eighth round, leaving Usyk as the king of the cruisers, improving his record to 16-0, with 12 knockouts. While Bellew leave the ring with a record of 30-3-1 , with 20 knockouts.
With this victory Usyk is confirmed as the best cruiser in the world and one of the best fighters, pound for pound today.
