Undefeated two-time world champion David “Bandera Roja” Benavídez and his older brother, title contender José Benavídez, offered public training session prior to their respective matches on November 13 live on Showtime from the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
David will face former champion José Uzcátegui in an elimination bout for the WBC super-middleweight title that tops the event, while José will face Francisco Emanuel Torres in the co-main event.
This is the first time the Benavidez brothers have fought in their hometown of Phoenix since 2015.
This is what the Benavidez Lads commented at the end of the training:
David Benavidez:
“Everything has been incredible during this camp. We are training 12-13 rounds and running six or seven miles a day. I have worked very hard to put on a great show on November 13 ”.
“Uzcátegui is a tough competitor and he`s a former world champion, so I have to give him that respect.
“There are big fights on the horizon for me, so I have to prepare accordingly for Uzcátegui.
I feel like I am the best fighter. I have better skills, more power, more speed and I am also hungrier. It’s going to be a great night for my team. I feel like I’m going to go in there and get the victory by knockout.
“A lot of people in Phoenix are excited about this card and I am very happy to be back. The time is perfect. For me, this is the biggest fight of my career. I’m ready for anything that comes my way on November 13.
“We are only focused on Uzcátegui, but of course there are more important fights for me in the future. If I win this fight, I’m ranked number one for whoever wins between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant.”
José Benavídez:
“It feels great to be on this card with my brother and to be going back to my hometown. There will be a lot of support for me. It’s a great feeling and I look forward to giving my fans a great result.
I had to take a break, but now I have a different mindset. I just want to keep fighting, training and preparing. I want to get to the top of the super welterweight division.
We have a great team here. We all came from nowhere and we all started this journey at the same time. We learn day by day and that is what strengthens our bond.”
