Puerto Rican Danielito Zorrilla (17-1-0, 13 KOs) is motivated to become his country’s next world champion when he challenges the World Boxing Council super lightweight champion Regis Programs (28-1, 24 Ko`s), on June 17 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“I know that people think that I have no chance to beat Prograis. This motivates me. I like it because I see it as a challenge. Nobody takes me into consideration, but I count on myself and that night I will show a lot and give Puerto Rico a new world champion,” Zorrilla said in an interview.
“Not being the favorite boxer, the surprise will be even bigger. Everything I have against I use as motivation. I have been preparing hard for a difficult match. I’m ready for anyone. I am not afraid of challenges. That’s why we’re here. Also, boxers’ careers are short, so opportunities like this cannot be missed,” said Zorrilla.
The opportunity for Zorrilla arose when Prograis’s original opponent, Liam Paro, withdrew from the bout with an injury in training..
