Nery and Hovhannisyan embroiled in crucial WBC eliminator<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Former world champion of two divisions, Luis “Pantera” Nery, will face the Armenian Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan, in an elimination fight endorsed by the World Boxing Council.<\/p>\n

Scheduled for 12 rounds, it will be the main event this Saturday, February 18, at the Pomona Theater in Pomona, California.<\/p>\n

Luis Nery (33-1, 25 KOs) represents the tough fighters who have come from the ranks of Tijuana, Mexico. The 28-year-old fighter is a former two-division world champion with a near-impeccable record \u2013 the only defeat was against Brandon Figueroa in May 2021, that saw him lose his world super bantamweight title.<\/p>\n

Since then, he has sought to return to the top, winning the WBC Super Bantamweight Silver title against Carlos Castro in February 2022 and then defeating David Carmona in October.<\/p>\n

Hovhannisyan (21-3, 17 KOs) hails from Yerevan, Armenia and has steadily climbed to make a name for himself in his division. The 34-year-old “Crazy A” has earned the respect of the Los Angeles scene with his impressive and aggressive style.<\/p>\n

The fight is organized by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Zanfer Boxing and will be broadcast on DAZN.<\/p>\n
