Arroyo in excellent condition for rematch with Mart\u00ednez<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council, the Mexican Julio C\u00e9sar Mart\u00ednez, will face the interim champion, the Puerto Rican McWilliams Arroyo, next Saturday, June 25 at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, in a fight card headed by the American Jesse \u201cBam\u201d Rodr\u00edguez, defending his WBC super flyweight title against former Thai world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.<\/p>\n

Martinez and Arroyo met last year in a fight that could not come to an end, as an intentional head butt forced the referee to stop the fight in the third round.
\nJulio C\u00e9sar recovered from a knockdown in the first round, to attack McWilliams with a powerful hook and despite the fact that he was injured, he was able to finish the round on his feet and fighting.<\/p>\n

In the second round, with greater power and precision, Mart\u00ednez forced Arroyo to hug his opponent several times. In an exchange of blows, both had a clash of heads that left two cuts on the Puerto Rican’s eyelid.<\/p>\n

For the third round, at the request of the referee, the ring doctor came up and when checking on McWilliams he realized that he could not see due to the cut and decided to stop the fight, to be declared a \u201cNo contest\u201d.<\/p>\n

Showing his commitment and that he is in optimal conditions for this long-awaited fight, Arroyo sent his 14-day pre-fight pre-weigh-in to the WBC offices, registering 116.5 pounds.<\/p>\n

One of the main priorities of the World Boxing Council is the full implementation of the Weight Control Program, which aims to protect the health of fighters.
\nFor the 30-day weigh-in, boxers must weigh no more than 10% of their division limit, for the 14-day weigh-in no more than 5%, and for the 7-day weigh-in 3%.<\/p>\n
