Benavidez pitches at the Arizona Diamondbacks game<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Two-time undefeated champion and Phoenix fighter David \u201cBandera Roja\u201d Benavidez threw the first pitch in the game for the Arizona Diamondbacks ahead of a fight in his home state for the second time in a row next Saturday.<\/p>\n

He also participated in an exchange of boxing gloves and jerseys with Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very grateful to the Diamondbacks organization for inviting me to throw the first pitch in the game,\u201d Benavidez said. \u201cReceiving a jersey from them is truly a dream come true. I love representing Arizona and can’t wait to do it in the ring one more time on Saturday night.”<\/p>\n

Benavidez will face former world champion from Canada David Lemieux in a World Boxing Council interim super middleweight title bout at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old \u201cRed Flag\u201d (25-0, 22 Ko’s), who comes to this fight after knocking out his last five opponents, is trained by his father Jos\u00e9 Benavidez. In 2017, he became the youngest super middleweight champion in boxing history by defeating 20-year-old Ronald Gavril.<\/p>\n

Originally from Montreal, Canada, David Lemieux (43-4, 36 KOs) has won five straight fights, including three wins in the super middleweight division.<\/p>\n

The fight, which is part of the Premier Boxing Champions series, will be televised on Showtime.<\/p>\n
