Deontay Wilder reigned as Heavyweight King for 5 years, 1 months and 6 days.\u00a0 He defended his WBC World Championship on 10\u00a0occasions including the dramatic draw against Tyson Fury back in December of 2018.\u00a0 Wilder was not satisfied with having a draw in his unblemished record, so he searched for the\u00a0rematch\u00a0against Fury.<\/p>\n

On February 22, 2020, Wilder met Fury for the\u00a0second time at a sold-out T-Mobile Arena. A memorable event which produced one of the\u00a0most spectacular ring walks by both fighters.\u00a0 The atmosphere was electric, and the result was a shocking seventh round stoppage by Fury.<\/p>\n

Wilder knocked down Fury twice in the first fight and Fury did the same to Wilder in the second.<\/p>\n

The WBC Board of Governors has reviewed the recent\u00a0history in the Heavyweight Division. \u00a0Considering the long\u00a0inactivity in the division due to the pandemic, ongoing legal\u00a0processes, and covid 19 infections, the WBC has ruled that the winner of this fight will have 30 days to secure a contract to unify the Heavyweight Division against WBO-IBF-WBA champion Oleksandr Usyk in search of an undisputed champion in the division. If no unification bout is secured within that time, the winner of Fury v.
