Usyk became the undisputed cruiserweight champion 3 years ago<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/span>July 21, 2018<\/span><\/p>\n

World Boxing Council Cruiser World Champion Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine became the undisputed 200-pound champion and won the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) Tournament, defeating Russian Murat Gassiev by unanimous decision in the main event of a card presented at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Usyk’s demonstration was overwhelming. He showed superb technique also employing smart\u00a0 defence, to prevail on the three judges’ scorecards were 120-108, 119-109 and 119-109, thus becoming the first Champion of the World Boxing Super Series Tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Usyk was lauded by the fans,\u00a0 and received the Muhammad Ali Trophy from the widow of the \u201cKing of Boxing\u201d, Lonnie Ali.<\/span><\/p>\n

Usyk won three important victories to win this tournament. He first defeated German Marco Huck in September 2017, then Mairis Breidis and\u00a0 Gassiev, all fighting in the countries of his rivals.<\/span><\/p>\n
