Starting tomorrow, Wednesday April 28, boxing fans in Mexico City will have the opportunity to encounter this beautiful belt which will be on display to the public at the “Union of Railroad Workers” from 08:00 to 5:00 pm.\u00a0 The address is Ricardo Flores Mag\u00f3n 206. Col. Guerrero in Mexico City.<\/span><\/p>\n

The WBC commemorative belts, of May 5 and September 16, were created with the specific and avowed intention of serving as a majestic trophies, which are awarded to the winner of great fights celebrated during these two Mexican festivities, regardless of the nationality of the contenders.<\/span><\/p>\n

This concept was born in 2017, and basically every year a culture is selected to create such special belts. On this occasion, the \u201cCharrer\u00eda\u201d culture was chosen to create a bridge with boxing, through the creation of the \u201cMestizo Belt.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The celebration of elite fights in May and September are already a tradition spanning more than 40 years. The most important fights are held, encompassing these two dates, and it is now naturally apt, for great champions to painstakingly mark their annual calendars considering them. Boxers Floyd Mayweather, Erik Morales, Manny Pacquiao, Marco Antonio Barrera, Oscar de la Hoya, Juan Manuel M\u00e1rquez and now, \u201cCanelo\u201d \u00c1lvarez have proudly observed this tradition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mestizo belt is inspired by the \u201cCharreria\u201d. It has embroidered the \u201cCharro Cala de Caballo\u201d, involving skilled control of the horse. The belt also carries two Friesian horses and a skirmish, which is very important as it is the female representation in the \u201cCharreria.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Another kind of charro demonstration is added to the belt,\u00a0 which is known as the:\u201dJineteada\u201c and finally the \u201cFloreode Reata.\u201d These are also representations,\u00a0 with ornamental guides and embossed flowers that, in addition to increasing its beauty, also show the ornate brilliance of the artisan hands that elaborated it. What is made in Mexico is well done and this belt incorporates the heart and soul of its artisans.<\/span><\/p>\n

This special belt is a gift that Mexico and the World Boxing Council present to the world and this unique recognition will be owned by the winner of the great fight between the Mexican Saul \u201cCanelo\u201d Alvarez and Britain`s Billy Joe Sanders, this coming May 8 in Dallas, Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n
