This morning the Celebrations \u00a0of “2021, the Year of Boxing” officially kicked off, and what better way to do it than with an historic event that marked a before and after for Cancun\u2026the historic Night of Champions.<\/p>\n

Only a few months had passed since Hurricane Wilma lambasted Cancun with full force, as one of the strongest natural phenomena in its history. A blow of epic proportions, especially in the hotel zone and across the beaches.<\/p>\n

At that time, the President \u00a0of the WBC, Don Jose Sulaiman, focused all of his energy and efforts in helping the people Cancun, and immediately sent all the necessary help. However, the support did not stop there, because as Don Jos\u00e9 always did, he bet on boxing.<\/p>\n

He knew that this would be the balm and relief that Cancun really needed, as a way to contribute to the recovery of the State. So with the assistance of promoter Pepe Gomez, there was an unprecedented event “Night of Champions” where the WBC brought together 92 world champions.<\/p>\n

Today, in this great celebration, \u00a0we were accompanied by some of the great stars of the ring who led us, in remembering \u00a0that extraordinary celebration.<\/p>\n

All of our guests were nostalgic, recalling \u00a0those moments where all the champions united as a huge family, enjoying all the surprises that the WBC and Cancun prepared, in order \u00a0to send the message to the world that it was indeed on its feet, ready to welcome everyone!<\/p>\n

Marvelous \u00a0and poignant memories relived, \u00a0when at the beginning a superb \u00a0video was shown that took us through those incredible three days that remained forever engraved in the hearts of all who made this event possible.<\/p>\n

WBC President Mauricio Sulaim\u00e1n urged promoter Pepe Gomez to hold a second edition of the Night of Champions, \u00a0when the easing \u00a0of the pandemic permits.<\/p>\n
