Gilberto Ramirez was a special guest on \u201cCoffee Tuesday,” outlining the great commitment of fighting Marcus Browne for the interim WBC light heavyweight title.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman mentioned that this fight was ordered due to the inactivity of the division, as world champion Artur Beterbiev has had problems defending his crown , having tested positive for COVID-19 during the camp training, as well as other pandemic-related restrictions that have delayed it. He clarified that at this time the fight is in a period of free negotiations with a deadline of February 5 and if an agreement is not reached, it will go to bids.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Mauricio is very enthusiastic about this fight, as he recalled when his father Don Jos\u00e9 Sulaim\u00e1n saw Gilberto fighting, as a child and years later,\u00a0 when he was crowned youth champion of the WBC, he predicted that this “boy” would become WBC champion.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>This emotional memory outlined a smile in Gilberto, who was clear in saying that this fight is a dream come true, so he is training hard for this.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very excited and motivated, I have always felt part of the WBC and I owe that to Don Jos\u00e9, who always treated me with special affection and who since he met me told me that I would be world champion. Today,\u00a0 I have that great opportunity and I assure you that I am not going to let it go, because I owe it to him, to my people and to myself.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Viz the date of the fight and the venue, nothing has yet been defined, but he says he`s looking for it to take place in Mazatl\u00e1n, his land. Gilberto Ram\u00edrez is promoted by his own company, Zurdo Promotions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Focused on this commitment, Gilberto thanked the WBC for the opportunity to make his dream come true and with all great conviction and assured confidence , he declared that Mexico and the World Boxing Council will have a new and proud champion.<\/span><\/p>\n
