Danny Garcia aiming to build a “Swift” legacy<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Born on March 20, 1988 in Philadelphia, of Puerto Rican descent, Danny Garc\u00eda is the challenger who\u00a0this Saturday\u00a0December 5th, \u00a0will face\u00a0 WBC welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr. in a contest which could unfold as Fight Of The Year.<\/span><\/p>\n

A boxer who has the sport of fists in his blood, \u00a0thanks to his father \u00c1ngel Garc\u00eda who was a boxer when Danny was very young, and who would also become his coach.<\/span><\/p>\n

At just ten years old, Danny arrived at Philadelphia’s Harrowgate Boxing Club, where he began training guided by the dedicated and seasoned supervision of his father.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>With natural skills coupled with an iron determination, Danny \u00a0quickly showed that he possessed all of the prerequisites\u00a0\u00a0to become a future become world champion, and in November 2007 at just 19 years old he made his professional debut defeating Mike Denby via KO.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With 13 consecutive victories, many of them by KO, the first title opportunity came in \u00a0December 2009 he faced Enrique Colin with the WBC youth superlight title at stake. That night Danny was crowned, \u00a0winning by \u00a0knockout.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rapidly becoming a fan favorite, by earning his exulted place in boxing, Danny took on one of the biggest fights of his career, facing Mexican idol and world champion Erik Morales, for the vacant WBC super lightweight world title. He won a unanimous decision victory, on March 24, 2012 in Houston, Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Danny defended the WBC super lightweight crown five times, clearly and emphatically showing his boxing skills against Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Lucas Matthysse, Mauricio Herrera and again against Erik Morales.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With an unbeaten record, Danny decided to try his luck and now make history in the welterweight division, so in January 2016 Danny faced Robert Guerrero conquering the vacant WBC title. That night Garcia, added his second division crown.<\/span><\/p>\n

By this time, Danny was considered a real force to be reckoned with. However, his winning streak came to a halt, on the night of March 4, 2017, when Keith Thurman ended Danny’s undefeated record,\u00a0gaining \u00a0the title.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0I<\/span>n 2018, things did not improve, as he again was defeated, this time by Shawn Porter. Two defeats which were difficult to assimilate but that did not affect or break Danny`s championship spirit, because for 2019 he got a victory against Adri\u00e1n Granados and later with Ivan Redkach demonstrating once again his resolute determination to triumph.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, stronger and more inspired than ever, Danny is ready to continue and reap victories, in order to\u00a0leave a lasting legacy in boxing.<\/span><\/p>\n
