Jackie “La Princesa” Nava (36-4-4, 16 KO`s) fought smart and precise,\u00a0 to coast to a UD over a game, strong, defiant, but outboxed Estrella “Chacala” Valverde (18-7-2, 3 KO`s) in a super bantamweight\u00a0 Zanfer promotion behind closed doors event at TV Azteca, in the south of Mexico City.<\/p>\n

It was an intelligent: “I`m all right Jack” strategy, in order to win convincingly, and avoid any injuries especially cuts, in order to stay bang on course for the much anticipated clash with WBC bantamweight champion Mariana “Barby” Juarez (54-9-4, 18 KO`s) hopefully in the Fall, in front of distanced fight fans.\u00a0 Both Jackie and Mariana…are\u00a0 now approaching forty from the wrong side, so time isn`t on either side, and neither can afford slips ups along the path to their well deserved pot of Gold. Jackie has publically stated this will be her last year in Boxing.<\/p>\n

Estrella started aggressively going for the body, but Jackie was always quicker on her feet and faster with her hands, prudently maintaining\u00a0 a healthy distance to avoid sweeping hooks, from her opponent who was often charging in.\u00a0 By round three, Jackie had established and measured her jab,\u00a0 and was following up with clipping right hooks to the head. By the fifth Jackie was driving Estrella to the ropes, but landing cleanly was not as easy,\u00a0 as the younger woman was often artfully backing\u00a0 off, ducking, bobbing and weaving, plus counter attacking with gusto.\u00a0 Yet Jackie`s work rate was always higher and her punches crisper, although lacking full power, until the championship rounds, when she moved in closer.<\/p>\n

The Scores reflected the nature of the fight, being: 99-91, 99-91, 100-90, 100-90, 100-90, 100-91 and 100-91.\u00a0 In this time of lockdown and quarantine, the extra Judges are joined by the ringside trio,\u00a0 by receiving\u00a0 the live feed at home, sitting bolt upright in their armchairs, during an experimental phase, but\u00a0 also to provide a further and extra range of expertise, for an even more broadly balanced result.<\/p>\n

The main support fight was over before it ever really got going. super featherweight Mauricio “Bronco” Lara (19-2, 13 KO`s) TKO`d Alejandro “Piston” Palmero (12-6-1.6 KO`s) six seconds before the end of round\u00a0 one. A huge left hook to the head badly wobbled “The Piston” who took a lot more follow up flak, and swiveled away in disarray, so\u00a0 watchful Referee Cesar Castellon,\u00a0 swiftly moved in to save him.<\/p>\n

Undefeated Irving Turrubiartes (22-0. 13 KO`s)\u00a0 TKO`d brave Hector Colin (9-12, 8 KO`s) at 1.57 of the fifth round of a hard hitting featherweight bout, overwhelming him with a cascade of left hooks and right crosses. But not before Hector had shocked the over confident young prospect with a huge right hook to the side of the face, which put him smartly on to the seat of his pants shortly before the bell ended round one. Bigger Hector has fought as far up as super lightweight. Following a eight standing count, another cracking right visibly hurt the youngster, but the bell rang and Hector sportingly plus softly patted him in a friendly and sporting manner.\u00a0 A chastened and more focused Irving returned the compliment in round two, courtesy of a big left hook. After that Hector increasingly took a lot of left jabs to the head, followed by rights and left hooks, which appreciably slowed him down. The end came not a moment too soon.<\/p>\n
