Our\u00a0 round 66 is about people deprived of their liberty, via\u00a0 the documentary \u201cHard hits\u201d that narrates the story of “El Barbas”, “El Panda” and “El Pollo” who have found refuge and redemption in sports.<\/p>\n
Guests\u00a0 Dr. Eunice Rend\u00f3n, Marcos Arienti and Diego Medell\u00edn, producer of the documentary, agreed on how important it is to focus\u00a0 visibility upon this\u00a0 sector of society that unfortunately is always stigmatized and which very few of us really see.<\/p>\n
The WBC has launched initiatives such as “Box, don’t throw in the towel”, “Boxing for Reintegration” and “Boxing without chains” in Argentina. Programs\u00a0 that aim to develop social, psychological and labor tools that allow Inmates to reintegrate into society once they are released from prison, as well as reduce levels of violence at the individual level, and concerning family as well as community, using two main components: sports and psycho-emotional.<\/p>\n
Diego Medell\u00edn talked about his experience when filming this documentary where\u00a0 the life and history of these three men, like many others, should count, because they found in boxing a way to better serve their sentence, learning the value of discipline, dedication and love for sport.<\/p>\n
A thoughtful and thought provoking\u00a0 documentary,\u00a0 that confronts us with a reality that seems foreign to most, but as our panelists pointed out, must be visible and understood by all. Three personal, complex\u00a0 and moving stories that lead us to witness genuine transformation.<\/p>\n
A story developed over three years within the Iztapalapa East Preventive Men’s Prison which was run by Jos\u00e9 Luis Palma and is a story of him in collaboration with \u00c1ngel Inzunza.<\/p>\n
Dr. Eunice Rend\u00f3n spoke about how important it is to work with the most vulnerable community and she thanked the World Boxing Council, which works directly in these initiatives in a very special way.<\/p>\n
Marcos Arienti, who has done an excellent job with Boxing without chains in Argentina, spoke about the results that have been produced so far, commenting that the changes have been extremely significant.<\/p>\n
He commented that we must continue looking for schemes that contribute to reintegration through comprehensive interventions that address their physical, psycho-emotional and social needs from different areas.<\/p>\n
