Oleksandr Gvozdyk announces his retirement<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Former World Boxing Council<\/strong> light heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk <\/strong>announces his retirement from boxing at 33 years old.<\/p>\n

This is confirmed by the fighter’s manager Egis Klimas, an ESPN<\/strong> interview Steve Kim.<\/p>\n

Gvozdyk<\/strong> (17-1, 14 knockouts) walks away from the ring to seek business opportunities.<\/p>\n

“He is a very smart guy, so he thinks it will be difficult to do business and box at the same time,” said Klimas. \u201cTherefore, you must dedicate 100% to boxing or business. So he decided to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klimas insists that Gvozdyk’s decision had nothing to do with his loss to Artur Beterbiev<\/strong> last October.<\/p>\n

The former 2012 Olympic bronze medalist dethroned Adonis Stevenson<\/strong> in 11 rounds in December 2018, coached by \u00a0Teddy Atlas.<\/p>\n

Gvozdyk was promoted by Top Rank<\/strong> throughout his professional career.<\/p>\n

“It has been a pleasure for us to have promoted Oleksandr Gvozdyk,<\/strong> who not only proved himself to be a great fighter, but is also one of the smartest boxers we have had the pleasure of promoting,” said Bob Arum<\/strong> of Top Rank.<\/p>\n

The WBC <\/strong>wishes Oleksandr a great success in his life and in his future business plans.<\/p>\n
