With this victory he defended the WBC light heavyweight championship. The action were staged at the Foxwoods Resorts of Mashantucket, Connecticut. Grant was dropped in round 6 and 10 and in the 11 and his corner then threw in the towel. The Referee Arthur Mercante stopped the fight.
