WBC Clean Boxing Program; Ring Officials<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The WBC Ring Officials Committee has met with the aim and intention of following up on\u00a0key \u00a0initiatives and programs for the benefit of our sport, and one of them is to conduct tests on both sides of the ropes.<\/p>\n

As part of these activities, it was agreed that the WBC Clean Boxing Program would be extended to our ring officials, by conducting random tests on them, \u00a0prior to participating by officiating.<\/p>\n

The different tests are to ensure\u00a0honesty and integrity in boxing.<\/p>\n

This weekend, the program was implemented with great success during boxing events in Russia and Mexico.<\/p>\n

Chelyabinsk, Russia<\/b><\/p>\n

Prior to the fight on August 23 in Russia, starring Ilunga Makabu defending his WBC silver cruiser crown against Aleksei Papin, supervisor Oksana Semenishana, applied the breathalyzer test to the panel of ring officials.\u00a0 This included the 3 judges: Troyce Stamey, Predag Aleksic, Francisco Alloza and referee H\u00e9ctor Af\u00fa, all showing negative results.<\/p>\n

Sonora, Mexico<\/b><\/p>\n

Prior to the fight on August 23, in Sonora, Mexico,\u00a0of \u00a0Francisco \u201cGallo\u201d Estrada defending his super\u00a0 flyweight crown against Dewayne Beamon, Abraham Ibarra, representing the WBC, applied the breathalyzer test to referee Abdiel Barragan, and an anti-doping test of 5 elements to Eliseo Gonz\u00e1lez, one of the judges. Both showed \u00a0negative results.<\/p>\n
