1975.- British star John Conteh proved why he was one of the most elegant light heavyweights in history by knocking out American Lonnie Bennett in five rounds at the Empire Pool in Wembley. Conteh, possessing an enviable technique, thus completed the first successful defense of his WBC World Light Heavyweight title, cementing his status as a national idol in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

1978.- Italy\u2019s Rocco Mattioli traveled all the way to Melbourne, Australia, to showcase his power. He retained his WBC Super Welterweight crown by knocking out Elisha Obed of the Bahamas in the seventh round. Mattioli, renowned for his fighting spirit, overcame an Obed who was seeking to reclaim glory, reaffirming the prestige of the Green and Gold belt in the Oceania region.<\/p>\n

1995.- In a high-intensity Caribbean clash in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Dominican H\u00e9ctor Acero S\u00e1nchez made the first defense of his WBC World Super Bantamweight title by defeating former champion Julio Gervacio via decision. It was a battle of strategy and endurance where S\u00e1nchez imposed his rhythm to maintain his status as monarch.<\/p>\n

2000.- In the heat of Bangkok, Thailand\u2019s Veeraphol Nakhonluang\u2014one of the most solid champions of his era\u2014defeated the gritty Mexican challenger Ad\u00e1n Vargas by unanimous decision. With this victory, Veeraphol marked his fourth successful defense of the WBC Bantamweight title, confirming his dominance in the lower divisions.<\/p>\n

2000.- “The Black Panther,” Juan Carlos G\u00f3mez, extended his reign in the cruiserweight division in devastating fashion. In Luebeck, Germany, the Cuban star knocked out Mohamed Siluvangi of the Congo in just two rounds. This marked the eighth defense of the WBC title for G\u00f3mez, who at the time was considered one of the most difficult champions to beat in all of professional boxing.<\/p>\n
